A unit of GlaxoSmithKline is recalling five lots of Benefiber
fiber supplement powder due to possible contamination by bits of
plastic, according to a company recall notice posted on the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration website.
GSK Consumer Healthcare said green plastic pieces or shavings
from bottle caps may be present in the product, presenting a
potential risk of choking or physical soft-tissue injury.
GSK said the products were distributed from late October through
late January to retail stores and online retailers throughout the
U.S., adding that it has received one consumer complaint of a green
particle found inside a bottle.
