Google, Microsoft to Accelerate Production Shift Out of China Amid Virus Epidemic, Nikkei Asian Review Reports

-- Google and Microsoft are accelerating efforts to shift
production capacity for their hardware products away from China due
to the coronavirus epidemic, the Nikkei Asian Review reported
Wednesday, citing unnamed sources.
-- Google could start manufacturing smartphones in Vietnam as
soon as April, and has asked suppliers to evaluate the feasibility
of shipping idle equipment from China to the Southeast Asian
country, the report said.
-- Microsoft might also begin production of its notebook and
desktop computers in Vietnam in the second quarter of the year at
the earliest, according to Nikkei.
