Enbridge Inc. said a consortium that includes its joint venture
company has been chosen to develop offshore wind turbines off the
coast of Normandy.
The Canadian pipeline and energy company said Monday that the
French Ministry of Energy Transition chose Eoliennes en Mer Manche
Normandie, the project company owned by the EDF Renewables and
Maple Power consortium.
Maple Power is Enbridge's joint venture with the Canada Pension
Plan Investment Board, a Canadian Crown corporation which invests
funds held by the Canada Pension Plan.
Enbridge said the consortium was chosen to design, build,
operate and decommission the project with an expected installed
capacity of 1 gigawatt.
The planned offshore wind farm will be located about 32
kilometers off the north coast of Normandy and has a commission
time frame of around 2030.
