BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- OneJet, the air
transportation network that provides consumers with increased
access to nonstop travel in small and medium markets, today
inaugurated new nonstop service between Buffalo and Albany, the debut route for its signature
OneJet Plus product.
OneJet will now offer twice-daily round-trip flights between
Buffalo Niagara International Airport and Albany International Airport, representing the
first direct flights between the two cities to be offered in more
than seven years. Travelers were previously forced to make the
280-mile trip by car.
The OneJet Plus service, which will be introduced to additional
routes throughout 2018, provides passengers with expanded amenities
onboard retrofitted ERJ 135 regional jet aircraft, including
increased legroom, complimentary 4G high-speed Wi-Fi, streaming
entertainment gate to gate and complimentary beer, wine and premium
snacks. Travelers also receive the same check-in conveniences that
standard OneJet flights provide, including TSA Pre access for
eligible travelers and valet plane-side baggage service.
The highly anticipated new route will serve as an important
productivity tool for the region's business travelers, including
OneJet launch customers M&T Bank and HealthNow New York Inc.,
which is the leading provider of health insurance plans for
companies and individuals in Western New
York.
"This is truly a historic day for the residents of Buffalo, Albany, and around the State," said Lieutenant
Governor Kathy Hochul, who cut the
ribbon before today's first flight. "This new service will provide
New Yorkers with a quicker and more efficient way to travel and
serve as yet another competitive advantage as we continue to draw
more businesses to Upstate."
"We're thrilled to now be able to meet the demand for a
convenient travel solution between Buffalo and Albany," said John D. Porcari, former
U.S. Deputy Secretary of Transportation and senior adviser to
OneJet. "This route will prove significant to the economy of
Western New York as it will help
regional travelers maximize their workdays and shrink their
commute time to home to one hour or less."
The OneJet Plus–branded ERJ135 aircraft offers a comfortable
30-seat cabin for the one-hour gate-to-gate service, with
convenient morning and afternoon flights Monday through Friday.
OneJet opened its first base in Pittsburgh in May
2016 with two daily flights. The company now offers over 220
weekly flights to and from its operating bases in Pittsburgh and Milwaukee, as well as exclusive nonstop
service to and from Albany,
Buffalo, Cincinnati, Columbus, Hartford, Indianapolis, Kansas
