EXPERT ALERTS:
FDA Policy on International Online Pharmacies
Gabriel Levitt
President
PharmacyChecker.com
Millions of Americans purchase prescription drugs through
international online pharmacies. The FDA recently announced drug
importation is on the table for lowering drug prices for Americans.
Says Levitt: "The FDA already allows imports of foreign versions of
medicines to stave off shortages. Allowing lower-cost foreign
versions to fight price gouging is a great idea – but it's too
limited in scope. FDA-approved medicines are available at much
lower-cost in Canada and the UK,
for example, so clearly Americans should be allowed to import them
for personal use, as long as they do so from licensed pharmacies.
PharmacyChecker-verified international online pharmacies are
already a lifeline of affordable prescription drugs for many, but
because of the technical illegality and scare tactics by drug
companies about online pharmacies, patients end up forgoing needed
treatments. Perhaps this new policy by FDA will open the door to
expressly permitting safe personal importation. It should."

American Cancer Society Sees Zero Cancer Risk for Smokeless
Tobacco
Dr. Brad Rodu
Professor of Medicine
University of Louisville
"A June 11 American Cancer Society
policy paper states that the Society will 'focus on the primary
goal of ending deadly combustible tobacco use.' ACS researchers
have estimated the number of cancer cases and deaths attributable
to potentially modifiable risk factors in the United States. They identified 17 risk
factors causing 660,000 cases of cancer. Cigarette smoking was the
primary cause (responsible for nearly 300,000 cases), while herpes
virus type 8 produced the fewest cases (1,040). Smokeless tobacco
was not among the 17 risk factors -- a tacit acknowledgment that
the risk of cancer from smokeless tobacco is de minimis. Taking
this position, ACS seems to be abandoning its 30-year crusade
against tobacco harm reduction." (See full quote here:

Dr. Rodu is a professor of medicine at the University of Louisville, where he holds an endowed
chair in tobacco harm reduction research. For the past 20 years,
Dr. Rodu has been involved in research and policy development
regarding tobacco harm reduction (THR).

Back to School: Importance of Germ Eradication and
Prevention
Irwin Stromeyer
Owner
Sterile Space Infection Defense
Stromeyer is an expert on germ eradication in any public space –
think daycare centers, schools, gyms, eldercare, rehab facilities,
offices, restaurants, etc. He can speak on the importance of public
germ eradication and the prevention of cross-contamination since
germs and viruses can morph into Superbugs, which lead to pandemics
(like this year in the Northeast with the deadly flu outbreak).
Says Stromeyer: "The germs adapt and become resistant to our
antibiotics, but humans do not adapt and, therefore, become
defenseless -- think children touching contaminated surfaces and
then touching their eyes, nose or mouths and getting sick. They
then can't go to daycare or school and their parents either miss
time at work or go into work sick and infect the whole office. This
causes companies to lose productivity. It's a vicious cycle. But
there is protection out there."
Stromeyer is the owner of Sterile Space Infection Defense, which
performs a terminal disinfection of all high-frequency touch points
and applies an antimicrobial surface coating. This coating
eradicates the vast majority of newly deposited organisms on
contact. Stromeyer calls the service the Healthy Child Zone®
Program. This procedure is replicated with all clients, whether a
school, eldercare facility, gym, etc. Sterile Space Infection
Defense is the only company in the region that offers this kind of
service. While other companies only disinfect, that's only one part
of the overall solution to cross-contamination infection
issues.

Planning for Your Child's College Education
Steven Sirot
Co-Founder
CBRG
Think helping your child afford a college education is difficult
when you are in an intact marriage? It's even harder if you're
divorced or separated. According to a New York
Times report, "Married parents can meet 77% of their child's
financial needs in paying for college, while divorced parents can
only meet 42% of that need." With 4 million college students in
the United States with parents
that are either separated or divorced (source: NYU Steinhardt
Department of Applied Psychology), it's important to make sure you
are planning correctly. Says Sirot: "A divorce should not be a
roadblock to a child's long-term education goals. A college
education is a necessity for success in today's competitive
world."
Sirot is co-founder of College Benefits Research Group, which helps
families find the right fit for their child financially,
academically and socially, and now offers mediation services
tailored to parents going through separation or divorce. CBRG is
the only college planning firm that is offering this type of
college/planning/mediation resource. To date, they have presented
at NJICLE and at the NJ Association of Mediators.

Four Easy Ways to Detox Your Body This Summer
Ann Louise Gittleman
Author
Gittleman, author of the soon-to-be-released book "Radical
Metabolism: A Powerful New Plan to Blast Fat and Reignite Your
Energy in Just 21 Days," can share four easy ways to detox this
summer: "1) Coffee: Not only will the right coffee boost your
energy, but studies show it can improve your insulin sensitivity,
metabolic rate and lipid profile -- and even reduce inflammation
levels in the body. Coffee has several polyphenols and other
compounds that are exceedingly beneficial to metabolism, including
a secret weight loss weapon called chlorogenic acid. CGA tells your
body's fat cells to burn their fatty acids for fuel. Make sure your
beans are organic light or medium roast for maximum benefit. 2)
Dandelion: Roasted dandelion tea first thing in the morning aids
digestion leading to better elimination. Dandelion also helps your
liver with its detoxification processes. Like coffee, dandelion is
a bitter food that gets your digestive juices flowing to stimulate
good bile flow, as well as saliva, HCl, pepsin, gastrin and
pancreatic enzymes. It's delicious hot or iced! 3) Bitters: Besides
being the antidote to 'sweet addiction,' bitters help detox your GI
tract and love your liver. Many familiar foods are considered
'bitters,' including asparagus, arugula, artichokes, cucumbers,
grapefruit, basil, thyme, and dozens more -- even cacao! Working
bitters into your diet several times a day is one of my top Radical
Metabolism tips. 4) Watercress: Watercress soup, as featured in my
4 Day Intensive Cleanse, is a forgotten secret to cleansing and
slimming. Watercress is a cousin to cabbage, arugula, and mustard
greens. This peppery power-green contains ten times as many
beneficial chemicals as any other fruit or vegetable -- and it's a
cancer-fighter too! Add watercress to your soups, salads, and green
juices to pump up your energy and detox."
Gittleman is a multi award-winning New York
Times bestselling author of 30 books on weight loss, diet
and detox, including women's health, men's health, perimenopause,
menopause, beauty and the environment. She is frequently in the
media talking about nutrition. Her forthcoming book, "Radical
Metabolism," looks at "forbidden fats," forgotten flavors, and
fat-busting beverages you must eat and drink in order to
supercharge your metabolism, making weight loss easier than ever
before. But weight loss is just the beginning – with the
easy-to-follow program, you'll also enjoy greater energy, balanced
mood, healthier skin, and protection against autoimmunity,
gallbladder issues, type II diabetes, and other devastating health
problems.

Why Are Today's Americans Calling The Police Over Trivial
Things?
Dr. John Huber
Chairman
Mainstream Mental Health
"This disturbing new trend of Americans calling the police on each
other for just about anything (selling water, being fouled at a
basketball game, etc.) reveals a lot about our collective state of
mental health. The idea of personal responsibility seems to have
been all but abdicated. People seem to either be lazy or incapable
of dealing with anything that ruffles their comfort zone. Also,
this trend could be direct reflection of a lack of maturity among
our fellow citizens. When some children don't get their way, they
cry to their parents and tell on their siblings -- only now adults
are doing it. The idea that the police should be used as force for
one individual to infringe their will upon another individual is a
tyrannical idea and not one rooted in a free society. Contacting
law enforcement should be the last resort to an escalating
situation, especially if it is becoming violent. Police only have
limited resources, and if our fellow citizens keep calling them
over trivial things, people who have genuine life-or-death
emergencies may be directly impacted."
Dr. Huber is the chairman for Mainstream Mental Health, a
non-profit organization that brings lasting and positive change to
the lives of individuals that suffer from mental health issues. A
mental health professional for more than 20 years, Dr. Huber is a
clinical forensic psychologist and a practitioner with privileges
at two long-term acute-care hospitals. Dr. Huber has appeared on
more than 300 top-tier radio shows, is Law Newz's go-to clinical
psychologist, and appears regularly on "America Trends" national
television show. He is also the host of "Mainstream Mental Health
Radio," which is heard nationwide and features interviews with
today's top mental health professionals.

The Past, Present and Future of Doctor Who
Dr. Piers Britton
Professor, media and history
University of Redlands
Dr. Britton, an internationally recognized expert on Doctor Who and
a professor of visual and media studies at the University of Redlands, is available to speak on
the past, present and future of Doctor Who, particularly at this
time, as anticipation builds for the first female Doctor,
Jodie Whittaker, to make her debut
at Comic-Con in San Diego: "In the
2017 Christmas episode, Doctor Who's 12th and current lead actor,
Peter Capaldi, ran into David Bradley playing the Doctor's first
incarnation. Both versions of the Doctor are fatally ill – which,
for a Time Lord, means that it's time to transform into someone new
in order to survive. In Capaldi's case, that someone new is
Jodie Whittaker, the first-ever
female lead. Although perhaps not evident to American audiences,
this is in its way a cultural watershed. Doctor Who is a national
institution in the United Kingdom
-- and historically a bastion of male privilege. Whittaker's
casting has been warmly received by critics, former Who stars, and
fans alike, but not everyone is convinced."
Dr. Britton is the author of "TARDISbound: Navigating the universes
of Doctor Who" (2011).
