Anglo American Platinum Ltd. (AMS.JO) said Thursday that it has
settled a strike at the Mototolo Mine in South Africa and will
reinstate fired workers.
The mining company, which is majority-owned by Anglo American
PLC (AAL.LN), said the 643 dismissed workers will return by Friday.
The agreement with the General Industrial Workers Union will allow
employees to earn back lost income via additional shifts.
"Our priority is now to safely restore the mine to full
production as quickly as it is practical to do so," Chief Executive
Chris Griffith said.
The strike began on May 12 due to a dispute over an employee
medical scheme after Anglo American Platinum acquired Glencore
PLC's (GLEN.LN) minority stake in the mine in November 2018.
