Union Pacific Corp. on Monday said Rahul Jalali was named as chief information officer, effective Nov. 2.

The company said Mr. Jalali "will lead the development, implementation and operation of Union Pacific's information and telecommunications technologies."

Before joining Union Pacific, Mr. Jalali was at Walmart Inc., most recently serving as vice president of Walmart International, the railroad company said.

Also on Monday, Union Pacific said Jon Panzer, who was serving as interim chief information officer, has been named senior vice president, Strategic Planning.
