Novartis Partners with Microsoft to Develop AI Capabilities

Novartis AG (NOVN.EB) said Tuesday that it will work with
Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) to advance its capacity in the field of
artificial intelligence.
The Swiss pharmaceutical company said that it will establish an
AI lab to improve its capabilities across the business, from
research to commercialization.
Novartis highlighted cell and gene therapies as one of the areas
where it would collaborate with Microsoft.
Satya Nadella, chief executive of the U.S. software company,
said the partnership will combine Novartis's expertise in life
sciences with the Azure cloud computing service and Microsoft
AI.
"We aim to address some of the biggest challenges facing the
life sciences industry," said Mr. Nadella.
