RESTON, Va., Nov. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos (NYSE:
LDOS), a FORTUNE® 500 science and technology leader, has
been awarded a task order by the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC)
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to manage
cyber and enterprise security operations for the organization. The
single award, firm-fixed-price, time and materials task order has a
one-year base performance period and four one-year option years
with a total value of approximately $100
million if all options are exercised.
Leidos cybersecurity experts will build on NOAA's existing cyber
methodologies and Leidos' in-depth knowledge of transforming
security operations centers to ensure the NOAA Cyber Security
Center (NCSC) can continuously conduct enterprise monitoring and
situational awareness for network security events against
sophisticated attacks across an asset base supporting over 20,000
users. Similarly, Leidos will help the DOC Enterprise Security
Operations Center (ESOC) provide department-wide, 24x7, near
real-time cybersecurity status information to enable timely
decision-making across all Commerce bureaus.
"Leidos creates a culture of cyber excellence by implementing
critical analysis and a strong network defense that ensures mission
resiliency for our customers," said Angie
Heise, Leidos Civil Group President. "Cyber is one of our
core competencies, and we assembled a team of cybersecurity experts
to meet NOAA and DOC's mission requirements. Our Technical Advisory
Group to the program has more than 50 years of security experience
applying scalable, cost-efficient cyber solutions that protect our
customers' most critical data and information."
NOAA provides environmental data and information that focuses on
conditions of oceans, major waterways, and the atmosphere. To
facilitate a mission that reaches from sea to space, NOAA relies on
a secure and resilient global network infrastructure. Under the
task order, Leidos will meet the operational needs for both the
NCSC and the DOC ESOC. This integrative solution will include
support services as well as the application of future
infrastructure, hardware, software, processes, and procedures that
ensure NOAA and DOC maintain comprehensive situational awareness to
effectively manage risk through visibility and measurable
cybersecurity.
