British stocks turned higher on Friday after the latest jobs data showed employment growth in the U.S. slowing but not ending.

U.S. jobs growth was 136,000 in September, which was a bit below expectations but also was accompanied by data showing the unemployment rate fell to a near 50-year-low of 3.5%.

The FTSE 100 climbed 0.7% to 7126.46.
