Italian banking giant Intesa Sanpaolo SpA (ISP.MI) has increased the amount of funding available to Fininvest, the holding company of Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and his family, newspaper Il Messaggero reports Wednesday.

The bank's management and supervisory boards have approved increasing by EUR400 million the lines of credit lines to Fininvest to EUR2.7 billion, it says, without citing its sources.

Fininvest, which controls Mediaset SpA (MS.MI), the largest private broadcaster in the country, has used EUR1.5 billion of the amount available, it adds.

Earlier this year, Fininvest was ordered by a court to pay EUR564 million to Compagnie Industriali Riunite SpA (CIR.MI) in a dispute over its acquisition of a publishing house.
