Adding Criteria

FilterX offers the opportunity to select from a pool of more than 200 filtering criteria.

These criteria are largely accounting figures and financial ratios calculated from the latest published annual reports of companies. Finding the exact variable you need from such a wide selection of criteria can be a cumbersome task, therefore a sensible structure has been built to aid investors in this process.

As mentioned elsewhere in this tutorial, the filtering criteria of FilterX are contained within the 3 dropdown menus in the core page. For its best part, this categorization closely follows the layout of UK Financials page itself. Therefore, anyone who is already familiar with UK Financials, will find navigation through FilterX just as easy.

The 3 menus are as follows:

  • Key Figures: Broken up into 7 sections, in this menu you can find some key financial ratios and figures of a company, ID & profile information, and specific quote and price data.

  • Deeper Analysis: This menu is a rather more comprehensive selection of financial ratios than Key Figures. Generally, it uses the same structure as in the UK Financials page.

  • Fundamentals: Here you can find certain accounting figures from the latest financials statements of Profit&Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash Flows.
Having mastered this breakdown of Filtering Criteria by now you are ready to find the exact variables you want from the 3 drop-down menus.

How? You merely scroll down each menu and stop the cursor over the variable you are searching for. Then automatically this is selected and added to the table below. Keep in mind that on the table, each variable's title might have been significantly abbreviated! The reason is merely to economize space on the table.

You can continue adding as many criteria as you wish. When you decide you need to discard some of them, click on the indicated 'Remove' text above the column you want to delete. Also, once you have added a number of criteria, you may need some extra space on the table. To do so, click on the 'Hide' text above Company Name and the whole column will vanish (without being deleted). To make it reappear just click on the arrow-symbol.

Note: In order to sort the table of companies by a specific variable, you click on the title of the variable once. For example, if you want to sort the companies by their PE Ratio, you have to click on the title of the respective column. Click on the title a second time to invert the order.
