ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.,
Aug. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/
-- The Spice & Tea Exchange, a gourmet retailer offering
an extensive selection of spices, loose-leaf teas, seasonings and
naturally flavored sugars and salts, has announced an ongoing
partnership with teen chef Danielle
McNerney, a Chopped Junior champion and competitor on
Food Fighters. Elevating the company's mission of
Creating & Sharing the Experience of a More Flavorful
Life, the partnership aims to encourage teens across America to
learn the valuable art of cooking.
As a part of the partnership, McNerney will introduce a line of
new, teen-friendly Chef to Table™ kits, featuring ingredients
offered at The Spice & Tea Exchange. Each kit offers kitchen
tips and easy-to-follow steps for any level cook. Initial recipes
include Sweet & Salty Cake Squares and Chipotle Steak Bowls;
delicious options to serve the entire family, with more options to
come. Additionally, Danielle will serve as a guest blogger on The
Spice & Tea Exchange's culinary blog, and will consistently
share a variety of new, teen-friendly recipes – including Grilled
Cheese Poppers, Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sandwiches, Cheesy French
Fries and more. McNerney's goal is to provide teens with creative,
yet simple recipes to inspire them to get in the kitchen and cook
on their own.
"By cooking at a young age, you learn to appreciate food and
where every ingredient comes from. You also become more conscious
of what you eat every day," said McNerney. "The Spice & Tea
Exchange is the perfect partner in my journey to encourage teens to
cook. We are all connected by food, and believe that, no matter
your age, you can successfully master the art of cooking."
McNerney's passion for cooking sparked when she was eight
years-old, after her mother was diagnosed with cancer. When her
mother entered remission, McNerney wanted to help her family eat
healthier by preparing fresh, flavorful meals at home. She quickly
fell in love with cooking and mixing ingredients and spices
together to create new flavors. Today, McNerney is committed to
encouraging other teens in America to learn valuable cooking
skills. Along with appearing on Chopped Junior and Food
Fighters, McNerney is the founder and CEO of SAVE the MOMS – a
business on a mission to help teens make healthy, delicious meals
at home.
McNerney often visited The Spice & Tea Exchange of
Frederick, Maryland, referring to
the shop as a "food lovers' paradise." Each visit, she would
explore new spices and seasonings, which inspired new recipes for
her to try at home. As a big supporter of the brand, McNerney
decided to visit one day, and share her mission and the philosophy
behind SAVE the MOMS to see if there was a partnership opportunity.
As fate would have it, a franchise field consultant at The Spice
& Tea Exchange, was at the shop. She was moved by McNerney's
story and mission, and brought the idea of a partnership to
Amy Freeman, CEO of The Spice &
Tea Exchange.
"Danielle is an inspirational young chef, with a wealth of
knowledge about cooking to share with others. We look forward to
working with her to create recipes and products that will encourage
the younger generation to cook at home," said Freeman. "As a mom
myself, I understand the value of learning how to cook at a young
age, and that cooking can offer a positive, creative activity for
everyone in the family. Moms everywhere will love the tasty meals
their kids will make for them using Danielle's recipes."
