Goals Soccer Centres plc
("Goals" or the "Company")
Goals and City Football Group open fourth US Soccer Centre in
Covina, Los Angeles
Goals Covina is Goals' 50(th) site
Goals has opened its 50(th) football centre in Covina, LA,
California. The new venue is part of the strategic North American
JV between Goals Soccer Centres plc, a leading operator of outdoor
small-sided soccer centres with 50 sites, including four in
California and City Football Group, the owner of football-related
businesses in major cities around the world, including football
clubs (most notably Premier League Champions Manchester City and
New York City FC in Major League Soccer), academies, technical
support and marketing companies. Covina is the 4(th) site to be
opened by the JV in LA, adding to the 46 centres operated by Goals
in the UK. The site was officially opened by ex-Manchester City and
England legend and Premier League winner, Joleon Lescott, on
Saturday 8 December.
Goals Covina offers local football players ten brand new ProTurf
pitches - nine of which are for 5-a-side and one of which is for
7-a-side games. The pitches are also lit by LED flood lights
ensuring that play can continue into the evening and the facility
features a brand new 4,000 square foot clubhouse with a Café,
lockers and rest rooms.
Goals Covina is sited next to Barranca Elementary School and the
school's football team, The Barranca Broncos, will be able to use
the clubhouse and pitches as the players work hard to become future
MLS superstars.
The new opening is a landmark development for Goals and takes
the company to 50 sites operating across the UK and the US. Goals
Covina also underscores the strength of the business' 50:50
strategic partnership with CFG which harnesses Goals' North
American operational expertise and site sourcing capability and
CFG's footballing, marketing and commercial expertise to drive the
growth of small-sided football in North America.
Commenting, Andy Anson, Chief Executive, Goals Soccer Centres,
said:
"Covina is a fantastic new site with top class facilities that
will be enjoyed by local soccer players. This new site was
commissioned to meet the growing demand for venues to play
small-sided soccer in the US.
"Goals Covina is also a landmark development for Goals. Not only
is it the fourth site we operate in the US, but it also represents
a landmark as our 50(th) site within the Group. This milestone is a
really proud moment for our company and I want to take the chance
to thank our staff across the world for their tireless
contributions and acknowledge our customers who continue to enjoy
playing football with us."
Don Dransfield, Director of Operations Development at City
Football Group, added:
"The opening of the fourth Goals site in California is testament
to the significant appetite for the world's most loved, watched and
played sport. It also shows our continued commitment to the growth
of the business in the US. As with the other three Goals venues, we
are looking forward to helping this site to become a hub for soccer
within the Covina and broader community."
