--Panasonic Corp. is planning to acquire land in the U.S. for a plant to produce new lithium-ion batteries for Tesla Inc., Japan's public broadcaster NHK reported Friday citing unnamed sources.

--Panasonic is considering spending billions of dollars on construction and equipment for the plant in either Oklahoma or Kansas, the NHK report said.
