Intermap Technologies has secured a contract to support
moon-landing simulations, providing high-resolution elevation data
and radar imagery to support the U.S. Geological Survey and NASA's
Artemis III simulations and training exercises.
The geospatial intelligence company said Wednesday its data is
being used by the Joint Extra Vehicular Activity Test Team, a
specialized group that develops and executes tests and analog
missions that is part of NASA's Artemis III mission, which plans to
land a human crew near the lunar South Pole in 2025. Test missions
are taking place in the Arizona desert, which has characteristics
similar to a lunar environment.
Elevation data is critical for training missions on Earth to
prepare for space missions, the Colorado-based company said.
