When Facebook Inc. talks about the addictiveness of its products
internally, the company uses the term "problematic use," Frances
Haugen said during Tuesday's hearing. Any documents related to this
are of "vital importance," and should be among the documents that
senators seek from the social-media giant, Ms. Haugen said in
response to a question from Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R., Wyo.).
Ms. Haugen also said she would recommend senators seek documents
from Facebook related to anything Facebook knows about the lack of
knowledge parents have about their platform.
"In the documents that I read, Facebook articulates the idea
that parents today are not aware of how dangerous Instagram is,"
she said. "And so at a minimum Facebook should have to disclose
what it knows in that context."
