Dow Jones News
Prysmian SpA (PRY.MI), having just clinched the largest cable
contract ever last week, said Thursday it will also build the
elevator cables for the new World Trade Center in New York.
Draka Elevator, a unit Prysmian acquired with its purchase of
Dutch rival Draka, will supply the hoistway cables and equipment
for the more than 100 elevators due to be installed in the
buildings now going up in lower Manhattan.
Prysmian didn't say how much the deal was worth.
Last week, it announced a EUR800 million contract to build, with
Siemens AG (SIE.XE), a high-voltage direct current interconnector
between Scotland and England.
