The U.S. Department of Justice has closed its investigation into
ENI SpA's (ENI.MI) Nigerian and Algerian activities without finding
any wrongdoing, the Italian oil-and-gas company said Tuesday.
Eni reiterated that "neither the company nor its management was
involved in any alleged corrupt activities in relation to the OPL
245 transaction in Nigeria".
The company, alongside Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSA.LN), has
faced allegations of bribery around the acquisition of rights to
the OPL 245 block in Nigeria.
"Eni is confident that the allegations currently put forward
before the Court of Milan will be found to be groundless," the
company said.
