For the seventh year, The American Journal of Managed Care®
(AJMC®) will publish its annual special issue on health information
technology (health IT), one of the best-read issues of the year.
Submissions for the issue, which will be published this winter,
will be accepted through August 2017.
There is still time to submit original research and informed
commentary articles for the 2017 health information technology
(health IT) issue. For the original Call for Papers and information
on how to submit a manuscript, click here.
Jacob Reider, MD, FAAFP, CEO of the Alliance for Better Health,
will serve as special guest editor-in-chief of The American Journal
of Managed Care® health IT issue. Dr. Reider, former Deputy
National Coordinator and Chief Medical Officer at the Office of the
National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC), has
published on the use of technology to promote the Triple Aim,
bringing better health and better care at a lower cost to the U.S.
populations.
Dr. Reider is a family physician who now leads an organization
focused on care transformation for Medicaid members and the
uninsured in upstate New York.
He previously was Chief Medical Informatics Officer at
Allscripts, a developer of electronic health record technology for
practices and hospitals. During the Obama administration, he served
in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, including time
as Deputy National Coordinator and Chief Medical officer at ONC.
Dr. Reider served in several private sector positions before
joining the Alliance for Better Health in December 2016.
A graduate of Hampshire College, he received his medical degree
from Albany Medical College.
Dr. Reider offers that, “health IT is the foundation of care
delivery transformation. It is for this reason that the
optimization of health IT remains a bipartisan issue: nobody would
argue that great health IT won’t support the Triple Aim.”
“I’m honored to be participating in the crafting of this edition
of AJMC®, and I am especially interested in seeing submissions that
focus on interoperability, usability, safety, and innovations that
support new models of care,” Dr. Reider said.
