                                 Change of Name


The Board of Steppingstone Associates Plc (the "Company") has today issued a
notice to its Shareholders to consider a special resolution to change the name
of the Company to 1700 Group Plc.

At the time the Company's shares were admitted to trading on AIM in January of
this year, the Board was notified that StepStone Solutions Limited, a company
whose parent is listed on the Norwegian stock exchange, was concerned over
possible confusion over the name of both Groups.

Rather than incur unnecessary legal expenses in defending the use of
Steppingstone by the holding company, the Board has decided that it is in the
Company's best interest for Shareholders to agree to a change in name. The
operating subsidiaries, the brands recognised in the recruitment market, will
continue to be called Hamblyn Selection Limited and Inspired Selection Limited.

Notice of the General Meeting of the Company to be held at 10.30 on 20 March
2008, at the offices of Grant Thornton LLP, 30 Finsbury Square, London EC2A 1AG,
together with proxy cards have today been dispatched to Shareholders.  The Board
unanimously recommends Shareholders to vote in favour of the resolution to be
proposed at the General Meeting, as they intend to do in respect of their own
beneficial holdings and holdings over which they exercise voting control,
representing approximately 67 per cent. of the Company's issued share capital.

Commenting on the proposed change in name, David Mansfield, Chairman of the
Board said "changing the Company's name to 1700 Group Plc represents a pragmatic
solution and one which will ensure that senior management continue to be focused
on the more important matter of running the business."
