Latin America's biggest bank, Banco do Brasil SA (BBAS3.BR), announced Tuesday that it will increase its stake in the pension unit BrasilPrev as part of the restructuring of its pension and insurance assets.

The bank said that it will increase its stake in BrasilPrev to 74.99% from 49.99% currently.

The bank's main partner in BrasilPrev is U.S.-based Principal Financial Group (PFG), with a 46% stake currently, and local group Sebrae with a 4% stake.

Banco do Brasil said that it will acquire Sebrae's stake in BrasilPrev.

After the operation, Principal will hold a total stake of 25% in BrasilPrev.

The bank didn't unveil financial terms of the operation.
