TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

The Company announces that on 17 September 2019 it purchased through Numis Securities Limited the following number of its ordinary shares of 10p each ("Shares") for cancellation at an average price of 552.34p per Share:

 Highest purchase price paid per Share:         554.40p 
 Lowest purchase price paid per Share:          548.40p

Following the above transaction, the Company holds 6,015,580 Shares in treasury and 598,648,281 Shares in issue (excluding those held as treasury shares). This figure (598,648,281) represents the total voting rights in the Company and may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they can determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in, the Company under the FCA's Disclosure Guidance and Transparency Rules.
