Goldcorp Inc. (GG) said Monday that proxy advisory firm Institutional Shareholder Services Inc. recommended that shareholders vote for the proposed merger with Newmont Mining Corp. (NEM).

Goldcorp said that in its report, ISS noted the strategic sense of the deal, the robust process that led to it, and the significant synergies expected from combining the two companies.

Goldcorp will be holding a special meeting of shareholders on April 4 to vote on the deal.
