Google Cloud, a unit of Alphabet Inc., has acquired Cornerstone Technology, which will help customers migrate mainframe workloads to Google Cloud.

Google Cloud said in a blog post that "Cornerstone's tools can break down your Cobol, PL/1, or Assembler programs into services and then make them cloud native."

The company said Google Cloud has made progress in areas such as introducing premium support and simplifying its commercial contracting process.
