PARIS--French car-part maker Plastic Omnium (POM.FR) said its net profit in the first half of the year rose as a result of increased activity in Western Europe and Asia.

The company said net profit rose 12% to 108 million euros ($145 million) after overall sales rose 3.8% to EUR3.67 billion. Sales in Western Europe, excluding France, rose 21%, while in Asia they increased 3.1%.

The company benefited from stronger demand for its products to supply parts for car models made by Volkswagen AG, Renault and Peugeot.
