Enel SpA (ENEL.MI) has agreed to sell 540 megawatts of renewable
capacity in Brazil to China's CGN Energy International Holdings Co.
for about 700 million euros ($798.1 million), the company said late
Wednesday.
The assets include two solar plants and one wind farm in
north-east Brazil, it said. Enel will remain in charge of
operations and maintenance activities.
The Italian energy company said it aims to free up resources
with the transaction to further develop renewable projects in
Brazil.
"With the sale of these assets we are capturing value for
further growth in Brazil, where we are implementing a large
pipeline of renewable projects," said Antonio Cammisecra, head of
Enel Green Power.
The sale is expected to close by the end of the first
quarter.
