Cobham plc sells Westwind for #21.25 million

Cobham plc today announces that it has completed the sale of Westwind Air
Bearings Group to GSI Lumonics Inc.  The consideration of #21.25 million has
been paid in cash.

Westwind, headquartered in Poole, Dorset, has 350 employees worldwide and
designs, manufactures and distributes advanced air bearing spindles for the
semiconductor manufacturing and other precision engineering industries.
Westwind's turnover in the financial year ended 31 December 2002 was #15.4
million, with an operating loss of #2.6 million and a loss before tax of #2.8
million.  Westwind had net assets of #16.2 million as at 31 December 2002.

Commenting on the disposal Allan Cook, Chief Executive of Cobham, said:

"In keeping with our stated objectives, we are delighted to announce the sale of
Westwind to GSI Lumonics.  The proceeds of the disposal will be reinvested in
line with our strategy of building niche positions in Aerospace and Defence
through selected acquisitions.  Management focus will now concentrate on our
core business of Aerospace and Defence."
