LAS VEGAS, April 2, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Growing
up hearing stories about her family history, Constance H. Porter was encouraged to share
about her grandmother who taught her values, ethics and morals
through example. To pay tribute to the woman whom she owed her life
to, Porter releases a new memoir detailing her grandmother's
story.
"Dagon: She Made a Difference" (published by Balboa Press) is a
narration of how a woman lived through many changes in her life yet
never lost a sense of her values and ethics. Born in 1875, Porter's
grandmother Anne Thompson, was
raised in a "Free Thinking Spiritual Beliefs" as her parents
conformed to this belief. At a young age, both of her parents died
and then, she was adopted by her uncle. The first three years of
her life were difficult she changed from a loving belief system to
a conservative belief system. Despite these, she held on to her
core values. Her example shaped Porter to who she is today.
"My brother and I grew up in a household with an angry father
and a never present mother. My maternal grandmother lived with my
family. She was my safe spot in an unsafe home. She was always home
when we came home from school," Porter says. "She taught us values,
ethics, morals without lecturing us. She taught by example. I am
the person I am today because my grandmother lived with my family
when I grew up."
The book appeals to most readers as they all live with a family.
Though set in between the 19th and 20th century, readers can still
learn from Thompson's story as it discusses death of a parent,
adoption, and change in a caregiver's belief system, child abuse
and redemption.
"For a mature reader, the reminder anyone can make a difference
in the life of another person. For a younger reader, there are
people who can support you. I encourage you to look for them such
as an aunt, uncle, or cousin or grandparent," she adds. To know
