TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

On 29 November 2016 Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust plc (the "Company") purchased 50,000 ordinary shares of 25p to be held in Treasury at a price of 888p per share.

The Company's issued share capital consists of 31,413,663 ordinary shares, of which 453,500 ordinary shares are held in Treasury. Therefore, the total number of shares with voting rights in Scottish Oriental Smaller Companies Trust plc is 30,960,163.
