Rap and NBA stars such as Jay Z, Nelly, Snoop Dog, Master P, Shaquille O'Neill and Allen Iverson may soon be rolling into their nearest AAMCO store to pick up Wheel Safe, a new inventive device from Powerlock International Corp. (Pink Sheets: PWLK). They'll get there even faster when they learn that authorities have now linked the black market profits from auto theft to several terrorist organizations. For the first time ever, a wireless electronic security system can now lock the wheels. Wheel Safe, which fits on your key chain, sends a signal to lock the wheels, tires and the custom rims, preventing even the most skilled rim robber from taking off with booty that can be priced as high as $20,000. U.S. sales of custom wheels were up to $4.5 billion last year. Time Magazine noted that the sales from the custom rim phenomenon are "fast and furious ... wheels have been getting dressed up, transforming these ordinary auto parts into urban fashion statements, starting with the hip-hop crowd and spreading to suburbanites who drive SUVs." Countless crimes and crime rings associated with rim theft, including several murders, have made headlines in the past few years. As reported to CBC news, the Investigative Services division for the Insurance Bureau of Canada is convinced that funds from auto theft are supporting terrorist activities. Powerlock International Corp. (www.powerlock.com) will start distribution of Wheel Safe in 47 AAMCO stores in the greater Los Angeles area with the intention to expand into the New York market by the end of 2007. Rick Fass, president of Powerlock, said, "Rim theft is a major problem. People are getting killed. Terrorist groups are getting funded from the illegal profits. The custom rim marketplace is still growing strong. We felt the urgent need to be the first to market with this very important product that protects one of the fastest growing industries in our country." Dog The Bounty Hunter, the star of A&E's No. 1-rated reality television show and noted patriot, is the spokesperson for Powerlock's Wheel Safe product line. Dog filmed a 30-second video news release which is currently running on national cable news stations. The Wheel Safe Electronic Security Alarm System is the world's first wireless anti-theft device for a vehicle's wheels and tires. Each wheel has a wireless electronic sensor mounted on it. This sensor is similar to a traditional wheel balance weight. The actual device is mounted underneath the vehicle's dashboard. If any wheel is removed from its hub, or tampered with, an integrated siren will sound. Wheel Safe(R) may also be integrated to alert the owner via text message on his cell phone in real time.
