SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Feb. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --  DrillWall™, a kenaf-based drilling mud additive from Kenactiv Innovations Inc., (OTCQB: OPHI) ("Kenactiv"), was recently tested in the lab by a major drilling fluids company and found to provide up to a 50% reduction in fluid loss, as compared to current mud additives, in sand pack tests using a water-based system.  The Scottsdale, AZ manufacturer of DrillWall™ developed the all-natural solution in response to the costly operational expenses, equipment inefficiencies, and increased risk drillers face when drilling fluids seep into surrounding geologic formations.

Super-absorbent DrillWall™'s superior performance is attributable to its ability to create a non-permeable filter barrier (filter cake) more quickly than other mud components, thereby reducing fluid loss and keeping significantly more fluid within the borehole. DrillWall™ is produced from U.S. farm-grown kenaf, a rapidly renewable agricultural resource, and manufactured in the U.S.A. Kenactiv's unique processing methodology enhances DrillWall™'s ability to help lubricate and cool the drill bit and prevent differential sticking. In addition to improving operational efficiencies, all natural, nontoxic DrillWall™ also helps lower the environmental impact of drilling processes.

"Drilling fluids constitute a significant portion of operational budgets, so improvements on this order represent considerable savings to the operators," said Mike Miller, Kenactiv's director of field operations for the oil & gas industry. "These tests focused on water-based systems in sandstone but suggest DrillWall™ has a significant role to play in reducing drilling costs in all drilling environments. We are confident that additional field testing will bear this out and prove DrillWall™ offers a competitive advantage in other drilling environments, as well." Currently, Kenactiv is offering DrillWall™ to U.S. based drilling partners for qualified field-testing. Interested parties should contact Mike Miller at 1.888.999.6772, or mmiller@kenactiv.com.

"In keeping with our mission to support U.S. economic competitiveness, we're looking to partner with the U.S. oil and gas industry by offering this opportunity here first," explained Christopher E. Galvin, Chairman, CEO and President of Kenactiv.

A 1999 U.S. Navy study found the core of the kenaf plant to be the most absorbent natural material on earth1, a key to its superior performance in the wellbore. Recently released third party testing also reveals that kenaf is 15X more absorbent than bentonite, 1.8X more absorbent than sodium potassium aluminum silicate products and up to 4.4X more absorbent than other natural fibers currently being used as drilling mud additives. Because DrillWall™ is all-natural and nontoxic, its use presents no risk to employee safety or the environment, and helps improve the environmental profile of drilling fluids.

About Kenactiv Innovations Inc.
In addition to the FiberZorb™ and Organic Plant Health brands, Kenactiv produces natural fiber based products used in packaging, textiles, automotive parts, oil drilling, plastic composites, agriculture and environmental management. By replacing petroleum based products and other, less sustainable, natural products with Kenactiv's line of products derived from kenaf, manufacturers can greatly reduce their carbon footprint, reduce costs and improve the performance of their products. Kenaf is a rapidly renewable crop with an extremely favorable environmental footprint and applications in a broad range of industries. Kenactiv's innovative processes and technologies activate the tremendous power of kenaf to make many of the products the world relies on better while also reducing the environmental impact of manufacturing, distributing and disposing of them. The Company, headquartered in Scottsdale (AZ), was founded in 2008 in Snow Hill (NC) where it owns and operates a 160,000 square foot manufacturing facility.
