Dr. Leila McKinney to assume new role as
director of Engaged Learning Technologies at DeVry Education
Group
Chamberlain College of Nursing today announced the appointment
of Beth Marquez, MSN, MBA, RN, as president of its Atlanta campus
effective immediately. She succeeds Leila McKinney, DNP, MSN, APRN,
NP-C, who had served as president of the Atlanta campus since the
campus opened in 2012.
Marquez has more than 15 years of academic and leadership
experience in healthcare, including serving as dean of academic
operations for the Atlanta campus when it opened in 2012 and as
dean of academic affairs since 2013. In her new role, Marquez will
oversee curriculum implementation, delivery of student services,
growth and development of regional clinical partnerships and
management of day-to-day campus operations.
“Beth’s diverse background in nursing, academic and enterprise
healthcare and her long-standing dedication to Chamberlain students
make her our ideal choice to succeed Dr. McKinney as campus
president,” said Susan Groenwald, PhD, RN, ANEF, FAAN, national
president of Chamberlain College of Nursing. “She exemplifies our
dedication to providing students with extraordinary care –
Chamberlain Care – through her exceptional leadership abilities,
dedication, compassion and laser focus on student success. We’re
confident she’ll bring this level of care and integrity to her new
role to help students achieve academic success and their career
goals.”
Before joining Chamberlain, Marquez was dean of nursing at
Rasmussen College in Green Bay, Wisconsin and, most recently,
senior manager of health and productivity at The Home Depot
corporate headquarters. Marquez is a member of Sigma Theta Tau
International, the American Nurses Association and the Georgia
Association of Deans and Directors. She is currently earning her
Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Chamberlain and holds Master
of Science in Nursing and Master of Business Administration
degrees.
“During my time at Chamberlain, I’ve had the privilege to
encourage students to embrace a spirit of service and compassion as
they care for the patients of our local and global communities,”
Marquez said. “The continued opportunity to support Chamberlain
students in making a positive impact in the Atlanta area and beyond
is a passion of mine as I nurture student dedication to improving
patient care.”
McKinney has transitioned to DeVry Education Group, the parent
organization of Chamberlain College of Nursing, to lead the newly
formed Engaged Learning Technologies department. As director of
Engaged Learning Technologies, McKinney will combine her interests
in technology and higher education to develop innovative
active-learning modalities, including educational simulations and
gaming, that will benefit all students of DeVry Education Group
institutions.
