MatrixOne, Inc. (NASDAQ: MONEE), a leading provider of collaborative product lifecycle management (PLM) solutions for the value chain(TM), today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has awarded the company a patent for an "Interface Definition Language Compiler." Dave Tewksbary, vice president of advanced research for MatrixOne, is the inventor of the compiler. The compiler - which can be leveraged for a number of enterprise software deployments - is software code that allows MatrixOne to effortlessly deploy its PLM solution in any environment regardless of a customer's system architecture. "The patent validates our industry leading approach to aggressive R&D investment," said Mark F. O'Connell, president and CEO of MatrixOne. "This invention enables MatrixOne to support multiple customer environments without writing additional code for more effortless deployments and greater cost savings. The entire company congratulates Dave and his team for this distinguished recognition." Tewksbary developed the source code when MatrixOne began leveraging the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) for its PLM platform environment. The code enables MatrixOne's solution to interact with several computer architectures and codes, including Extensible Markup Language (XML), Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) and Remote Method Invocation (RMI).
