International Standards Organization Joins CSIA as Emerging Security Partner ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cyber Security Industry Alliance (CSIA) today announced that BSI Management Systems has joined the organization as an Emerging Security Partner in its Affiliate Membership Program. BSI Management Systems is the North and South American hub of BSI, the world's leading international standards testing, registration and certification organization. Founded in 1901, BSI has facilitated and published many of the first commercial management systems standards, including Information Security and IT Service Management, now known as ISO 27001 and ISO 20000 management systems. "CSIA welcomes the knowledge and expertise that BSI Management Systems will bring to the membership as a pioneer in national and international standardizations," said Paul Kurtz, executive director of CSIA. "Their efforts to help organizations meet ISO 27001, an international security standard designed to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of sensitive data, is a much needed step toward the improvement of data security and the overall cyber security landscape around the world. We look forward to leveraging BSI's insights as CSIA continues to work to advance domestic and international standards and legislation related to cyber security." As an Emerging Security Partner, BSI Management Systems will work with CSIA and its existing members to appoint representatives to established committees, propose new initiatives and participate in member meetings. "At BSI Management Systems, we are committed to helping organizations improve data security by managing their confidential corporate and customer information through a systematic approach that encompasses people, processes and IT systems," said Gary Pearsons, President of BSI Management Systems America. "Information is the lifeblood of organizations and in today's competitive business environment, it is increasingly at risk. We look forward to working with CSIA and its members to continue to improve cyber security policy through education, awareness and advocacy, both domestically and internationally." CSIA's members provide the technical expertise, depth and focus to help government leaders better understand cyber security policy issues. In 2006, CSIA played a key role in several cyber security policy issues, including the ratification of the Council of Europe's Convention on Cyber Crime and the creation of an Assistant Secretary position for Cyber Security and Telecommunications at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
