Mexican telecom company America Movil SAB (AMX, AMX.MX), controlled by billionaire Carlos Slim, is considering acquiring telecommunications assets in Poland, daily Puls Biznesu reports Thursday without citing a source.

The company, which is seeking a foothold in the European market, has already acquired a stake in Royal KPN NV (KKPNY, KPN.AE) of the Netherlands and in Telekom Autria AG (TKA.VI).

"Carlos Slim is close to entering Poland... through acquisition," Puls Biznesu reports. "The billionaire is targeting Hawe and Play."

Hawe SA (HWE.WA) is a Warsaw-listed fiber-optics infrastructure firm. P4 Sp zoo, also known under the brand "Play", is Poland's fourth-largest mobile phone operator. The company is owned by investment funds Novator and Tollerton.
