MADRID--UBS Group AG (UBS) said Wednesday it has closed the sale
of a 7.5% stake in Spanish conglomerate Abertis Infraestructuras SA
(ABE.MC) previously owned by British private equity firm CVC
Capital Partners, for 1.1 billion euros ($1.23 billion).
UBS had said it was placing the stake late Tuesday and trade in
Abertis shares was briefly suspended in Madrid after the open
Wednesday, while the shares were sold among qualified
investors.
UBS sold more than 67 million Abertis shares at EUR16.4 each,
which represents a 4.5% discount to Tuesday's closing price of
EUR17.17.
Following the deal, CVC is almost halving its stake in Abertis
to 8.1%, held through investment firm Trebol International BV.
Spanish lender La Caixa is Abertis's largest shareholder, with a
22.3% stake.
