Transaction in own shares

Brightview plc announces that on 5 October 2007, it purchased for cancellation
50,000 of its ordinary
shares at a price of 25.5 pence per share, in accordance with the authority
granted to it by shareholders at the Extraordinary General Meeting held in
connection with the disposal of the entire issued share capital of Brightview
Group Limited to British Telecommunications plc.

Following the purchase and upon cancellation of these shares, the number of
ordinary shares with
voting rights in issue (excluding Treasury shares) as at close of business on 10
October 2007 will be 43,785,756 and the number of ordinary shares in Treasury
will be 4,271,730.

The company has existing authority to buy back a further 211,280 shares.
