Tesco PLC (TSCO.LN) said Thursday that group like-for-like sales growth was 0.2% in the first quarter of fiscal 2020.

The U.K.'s biggest grocer by market share said group sales were 13.99 billion pounds ($17.79 billion) in the quarter ending May 25. The company said that the U.K. and Republic of Ireland contributed GBP11.17 billion in revenue during the period, which represents a 0.8% increase on a like-for-like basis.

The company said that U.K. online grocery sales were up 7% year-on-year, with 10% more people using the click and collect order feature.

"We have had a strong start to the year, growing ahead of the U.K. market on both a volume and value basis," Chief Executive Dave Lewis said.
