Shares of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) are moving higher in Friday's market, following a media report the company is engaging in settlement talks with the U.S. Justice Department and other agencies over it relationship with Malaysia's 1MDB investment fund.

Bloomberg, citing "three people familiar with the negotiations," reported Goldman could end up paying under $2 billion to resolve the matter.

At 1:48 p.m. EST, Goldman Sachs' shares had gained 3.3% to trade at $224.30. Shares had dipped into the red earlier in the session before reversing course. Volume was 2.1 million shares, approaching the 65-day average volume of some 2.2 million.
