AMITYVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- NAPCO Security
Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: NSSC), one of the world's leading
solutions providers and manufacturers of high tech electronic
intrusion security, Internet of Things (IoT) connected home, video
and fire systems, as well as enterprise-class access control and
door locking products, today announced the University of California Berkeley will install
NAPCO's StarLink Commercial Fire Line Communicators.
The project has student housing and the main campus buildings
targeted for installations. Student Housing located both on and off
campus has over 125 sites where the StarLink FIRE will be
installed. On the Main Campus there are approximately 400 locations
where the StarLink FIRE will be used. The main emphasis of this
conversion project is to replace older/existing copper wire phone
lines, improve fire & life safety first response communication,
CA code compliance and overall cost savings.
StarLink Fire Line Communicators replace the need for old
fashion copper phone lines in order to send the alarm signal. With
the use of the StarLink, the fire alarm signal is transmitted over
the cellular networks from the premise to the central station.
NAPCO receives a recurring monthly fee from the dealers for
providing this service.
Richard Soloway, CEO of NAPCO
commented, "We are excited to have our StarLink FIRE Line
Communicators used at University of California
Berkeley. This ongoing project will lead to cost savings for
the University as well as improved first response communication and
greatly enhanced student safety. As traditional copper phone lines
continue to disappear we believe that the StarLink Fire Line
Communicators are a great cost-effective solution to the problem.
According to our internal research we believe there are millions of
fire alarms in buildings in the US which can benefit from using our
technology."
