Double-Take® Software (NASDAQ: DBTK) announced today that it has created new integration capabilities for Microsoft management systems, including Microsoft’s System Center Operations Manager and System Center Virtual Machine Manager, delivering federated application availability and recovery capabilities across the entire scope of Microsoft’s infrastructure. At this year’s Microsoft Tech·Ed, IT managers will be able to see first-hand how these new levels of integration, with a focus on Exchange 2010 and Window Server 2008 Hyper-V, will allow a company to maintain application uptime and perform simplified recoveries with just one solution by using Double-Take Availability.

“Microsoft platforms are a clear choice for the vast majority of our customers,” said Christian Tate, vice president of worldwide marketing at Double-Take Software. “We’re pleased to offer those customers peace of mind in knowing that they’ll always be able to maintain application availability and uptime and keep employees productive by providing them with ‘one tool’ that makes achieving this goal easy . We feel that this approach is both unique in the market and provides real business value to our customers.”

Double-Take Software has observed an accelerated adoption of Hyper-V and a strong conversion to the next evolution of unified communications with Exchange 2010. With this announcement, IT managers should feel secure that they can implement technology from Microsoft and keep it available and connected at all times with solutions from Double-Take Software. Without an easy-to-use “one tool” approach, companies are forced to make tradeoffs between expensive and complex options or running the risk of downtime. Not only does Double-Take Availability protect a company’s infrastructure, but as a “one tool” solution it also provides availability and uptime for the full spectrum of applications provided by Microsoft, including SharePoint, SQL Server and Dynamics.

Double-Take Software has also extended its management support for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager users by integrating the Double-Take Availability management console with Operations Manager for a simplified user experience. The Double-Take Availability management pack provides users with information on any Double-Take Availability “events,” including explanations of each event, probable causes, and suggestions for what to do next.

In addition, Double-Take Software now provides users with integration capabilities within the System Center Virtual Machine Manager module, which helps IT managers visualize and manage their virtual machines, through a new PROTip for Hyper-V virtual machines being protected with Double-Take Availability Virtual Host Edition. This PROTip will notify the Virtual Machine Manager user if the virtual machine is in a failover state and initiate failover of that virtual machine with a simple click, all within the Virtual Machine Manager console.

“As the adoption of Hyper-V accelerates in the marketplace, we see great customer value in working with Double-Take Software, helping customers protect their data and applications in smart and efficient ways,” said Jim Schwartz, director of Solutions Marketing, Virtualization at Microsoft Corp. “Together, we are bringing our customers strong solutions for their everyday IT needs.”
