The Makers of Adams™ Flea and Tick Control
Share Pet Safety Tips to Help Pet Owners Navigate the Dog Days of
Summer
Summer is officially underway, and according to recent NASA
research1, 2016 is expected to reach higher temperatures than
normal. Considering the potential dangers for dogs who might be
exposed to extreme heat, the makers of Adams™ Flea & Tick
Control products are advising pet owners to take precautions and
proactive steps to help ensure their pets’ health and safety for
the coming months. Pet owners should be especially mindful of the
“dog days of summer” between July 3rd and August 11th, typically
the hottest days of the season.
According to NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, there
is a more than 99 percent chance that 2016 will surpass 2015 as the
hottest year on the books.
“Pets are important members of the family. Hot weather can
create severe conditions ranging from flea and tick outbreaks to
more severe problems like heatstroke,” said Gregory Yeadon, Senior
Brand Manager, Adams Pet Products. “It’s important for pet parents
to be on alert and take proactive steps all throughout the
summer.”

Additional help comes from following these safety tips:
- Make flea and tick control a priority
all summer long with products like Adams™ flea and ticks sprays and
shampoos.
- Be mindful and avoid hot surfaces. Pets
can burn their paws on sun-heated pavements/black asphalts.
- Keep pets clean and groomed in order to
regulate body temperature and prevent skin irritations.
- Pets need sunscreen, too. Use a
pet-friendly sunscreen and apply all over exposed areas including
their underbellies.
- Create a mini oasis for your pet by
getting your pet a kiddie pool for a quick, cooling dip in the
water.
