COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 4, 2023
/PRNewswire/ -- Want to learn how to open a coffee shop in
Michigan? Get tips on starting a
profitable business in The Great Lakes State from coffee shop
startup experts at Crimson Cup Coffee & Tea.
Through its 7 Steps to Coffee Shop Success program, Roast
magazine's 2016 Macro Roaster of the Year has taught six
Michigan entrepreneurs how to open
their own independent coffee shops. Nationwide, over 400 shops have
opened through the 7 Steps program.
In 2022, Crimson Cup published a series of startup guides to
help entrepreneurs in each state achieve their dreams of opening
their own coffee shops.
For 2023, the company's 7 Steps coffee shop startup consulting
team has updated its "How to Start a Coffee Shop in Michigan" guide with even more tips and
resources.
"Michigan is a terrific place
to start a coffee shop!" said Crimson Cup Founder and President
Greg Ubert.
"In fact, Michigan ranks 20th
among the states in the number of coffee shops per capita, with
fewer than one coffee shop for every 5,725 residents. That leaves
many Michiganders without a local coffee shop, especially in the
smaller cities and towns."
The program is based on Ubert's book, Seven Steps to Success: A
Common-sense Guide to Succeed in Specialty Coffee, which he wrote
to help coffee shop owners develop profitable businesses by
mastering all aspects of successful coffee shop operations.
"We help entrepreneurs with little or no coffee experience
become owners of thriving coffee shops serving their local
communities," he said.
"From choosing a terrific location and writing a strong coffee
shop business plan to buying and laying out equipment, hiring and
training staff and more, our team is here to guide you."

After 45 years of working in the food service industry,
Kim Krantz wanted to open up a place
of his own with his wife Denise. In 2004, that dream become a
reality when the couple opened Coffee Chaos at 6201 Jefferson
Avenue in Midland, Michigan!
The couple followed Crimson Cup's 7 Steps process to open their
new venture, and they've been growing with Crimson Cup ever
since.
"From the start, Crimson Cup has been my partner in my
business," said Kim Krantz. "Their
philosophy is, 'if Coffee Chaos is successful, then Crimson Cup is
successful.' And they live this philosophy. It is not just
talk."
Their independent coffeehouse features hot, iced and frozen
espresso drinks, including cappuccinos, lattes and mochas. Hot and
iced teas, frozen hot chocolate and fruit smoothies round out the
drink menu. A variety of fresh muffins and pastries complement the
delicious coffee drinks.
Coffee Chaos caters to customer comfort with free Wi-Fi, a
spacious inside seating area and a generous outdoor patio with
umbrellas and tables.
The popularity of the shop's busy drive-thru is called out in
its logo and tagline, "Pick Up and Go Espresso."
"The approach that Crimson Cup takes is to make me, at Coffee
Chaos, the best shop that I can possibly be," Kim Krantz said.
"That I can sell the most coffee that I can sell. That I'm
giving the best product, the best service. All of those things are
what they are helping me do."
"They want to make me successful. Because if I'm successful,
Crimson Cup's successful. That business model is so unique. That's
what sets them apart."
To help entrepreneurs learn about opening coffee shops in their
states, Crimson Cup will continue to post an updated state-level
guide each week in 2023 until all 50 states are covered.
"Although the fundamentals of coffee shop operation remain the
same from state to state, the economic opportunities, business
formation and licensing requirements vary widely," Ubert said.
"We're excited to share information and resources to help
entrepreneurs expedite their startup journey."
He invited anyone who is thinking of opening a coffee shop in
any state to call Crimson Cup for guidance.
"If you run into any roadblocks or just want to discuss your
