COLUMBUS, Ga., Feb. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- For the
20th consecutive year, Aflac has been named one of
Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For, according to global
research and consulting firm Great Place to Work® and Fortune. The
leading provider of voluntary insurance at the worksite in
the United States, Aflac has
received a place on the prestigious list every year since 1999.
"Among the awards Aflac can receive, having a place among
Fortune's 2018 100 Best Companies to Work For is especially
gratifying because it represents the voice of our employees and
speaks to the importance we place on a workplace culture that is
trustworthy and rewarding," Aflac Chairman and CEO Dan Amos said. "We are extremely pleased our
employees continue to see Aflac as not just work, but a family that
encourages their success, helps develop their potential and gives
them reason to be proud."
Founded in 1955, Aflac has long been a leader in issues
important to its employees, among them diversity and philanthropy.
Its current U.S. workforce of more than 5,000 is 67 percent women
and 40 percent minorities. Each year, Aflac commits more than
$5 million to nonprofit causes in
communities where their employees live and work, and since 1995 has
contributed more than $123 million
and counting to research and programs benefiting children with
cancer.
In December 2017, Aflac announced
it will pass benefits of recent tax reform on to its employees,
increasing the company's 401(k) match from 50 percent to 100
percent on the first 4 percent of employee input and making a
one-time contribution of $500 to
every employee's 401(k) plan. Employees now also receive certain
hospital and accident insurance products free of charge, as has
been the case with their core cancer insurance product.
"We are using these funds to help secure healthy
retirements, develop employee skills in an evolving global business
climate, and provide additional protections for our
workers and their families," said Amos. "Our long-held belief
is if you treat your employees well, they will go above and beyond
for the customer. They will take care of the company."
