ATLANTA, May 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- For a little
in-flight indulgence, fresh and seasonally-inspired fare are the
key ingredients – a philosophy Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) is
dishing out in Flight Fuel, the latest on-board dining options for
customers.
Flight Fuel, which replaces the current EATS program beginning
June 1, focuses on healthful options,
fresh ingredients and more frequent refreshes to align with Delta's
evolving culinary strategy. The program will be available for
purchase on flights over 900 miles within North America.
"The newly branded Flight Fuel program extends far beyond a name
change, it's really about introducing multiple new menu offerings
and providing transparency into ingredient and allergen information
for customers," said Allison
Ausband, Delta's Senior Vice President of In-Flight Service.
"This latest enhancement is another step in the right direction for
Delta as we continue to improve the overall customer experience and
provide a variety of fresh, healthy options in flight."
The program will have three menus, Flight Fuel, Flight Fuel
Premium, offered on transcontinental nonstop flights between JFK
and LAX/SFO, and Flight Fuel Hawaii, which will be updated every
six months, respectively.
Flight Fuel will feature refreshed snack boxes including Crave,
Crunch and Tapas, which is the U.S. airline industry's only non-GMO
snack box. Aligning with the airline's focus on providing
transparency and options for customers, all snack boxes will
feature full ingredient and allergen labeling.
Some highlights of the menu include a fruit and cheese plate, a
turkey sandwich option with chips and a brownie, continental
breakfast, breakfast sandwich options and three Luvo wraps, which
were revamped in February.
Luvo's approach to in-flight meal and snack options aligns with
the airline's strategy to offer more healthful options on board.
Through the Luvo partnership, Delta flyers can choose from
chef-created, nutritionist-approved wraps that are packed with
nutritional value and contain less than 500 calories and limited
sodium and added sugars. Luvo's selection of Southwest Grilled
Chicken wraps, Sesame Grilled Chicken wraps and Mediterranean Whole
Grain Veggie wraps give customers a superior option for healthy,
delicious menu items on select Delta flights.
Flight Fuel Premium, offered on transcontinental flights between
JFK and SFO/LAX, will also feature Sheila G's Brownie Brittle and a
high-quality fruit and cheese plate co-branded with Murray's Cheese, New
York's most iconic cheese shop.
Founded in 1940 in the heart of Greenwich Village, Murray's Cheese is one of
New York's most beloved cheese
shops. Through its flagship stores on Bleecker Street and in Grand
Central Station's food market, Murray's offers hundreds of domestic and
imported artisan cheeses, along with a large selection of specialty
goods, solidifying the company's commitment to bring the best
cheese selection to the U.S.
"After traveling the world in search of the best cheeses, we are
thrilled to bring some of our favorites to Delta passengers," said
Murray's Owner and President
Rob Kaufelt. "We carefully curated
these special collections to mirror Delta's spirit of innovation,
and we're excited to share our passion for cheese with Delta
customers."
To top it off, all fresh Flight Fuel products will be packaged
in sustainable, earth-friendly, recyclable materials.
In addition to Flight Fuel, Delta has in the last year been
making evolutionary enhancements to its system-wide chef-curated
food programs featuring the culinary talents of Chef Linton Hopkins and Michelle Bernstein, as well as Danny Meyer, New York
City restaurateur and CEO of the Union Square Hospitality
Group. As a global carrier, Delta features seasonally rotating,
regionally-influenced menus that showcase ingredients sourced at
the height of flavor, often from artisan, local small-batch
producers.
Additionally, Delta partners with Master Sommelier Andrea
Robinson to create a robust wine program that also incorporates a
seasonal approach pairing perfectly with the airline's Delta One
menus.
