SAN MATEO, Calif., Sept. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading business, technology, and intellectual property ("IP") advisory firm Sherpa Technology Group today announced the promotion of Mark Gober to the role of Partner from his previous role as Senior Director. Mark joined Sherpa Technology Group in 2010, serving as an Associate in the firm's Boston office before transferring to Silicon Valley in 2011. Mark began his career as an Investment Banking Analyst with UBS in New York, where he worked on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and restructuring transactions for financial institutions. He graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University where he was captain of the tennis team.

Mark is well-respected in the field, and has been quoted for his opinions on technology and IP matters in publications such as Bloomberg Businessweek and The Patent Investor. Additionally, he has authored feature pieces in Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) Magazine's globally printed publication.

"We are thrilled for Mark to take a greater leadership role at the firm as we continue to grow our business and service world-leading innovators, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to venture-backed startups," said Ralph Eckardt, Managing Partner of Sherpa Technology Group and former head of The Boston Consulting Group's IP Strategy Practice.

"Mark's breadth and depth of experience is truly unique. He's managed complex and high-priority engagements for Boards of Directors, CEOs, and senior management teams in a wide range of technology sectors," said Kevin Rivette, Managing Partner of Sherpa Technology Group, former Vice President at IBM Corporation, and former Senior Advisor to The Boston Consulting Group. "Our firm's versatility allows us to be involved in situations that most advisors never see, and Mark has been on the front lines of these engagements for years."

"Most firms advising on intellectual property matters emphasize their legal expertise. While legal skills are certainly important, Sherpa believes that this is only one piece of the puzzle - a holistic approach is needed to help clients achieve their business objectives. Mark's business and financial acumen further differentiate us from intellectual property specialists, and we are excited for him to join the senior leadership group," said Peter Detkin, Managing Partner of Sherpa Technology Group and co-founder of the multi-billion-dollar innovation investment fund, Intellectual Ventures, and formerly Vice President at Intel Corporation responsible for Intel's patent, licensing, litigation and antitrust strategies. Before Intel Peter was a partner at Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich and Rosati.
