dedication of these board members will provide dynamic leadership

Quick Facts
National museum board members are appointed by the Minister of
Canadian Heritage with the approval of the Governor in Council.
In 2016, the Government of Canada adopted a new approach to
Governor-in-Council appointments. This approach respects the
principle of gender parity and is based on an open, transparent and
merit-based selection process. It results in the recommendation of
remarkably competent candidates who truly reflect Canadian
diversity.
The new approach requires a selection process for both full-time
and part-time positions.
As they become available, all appointment opportunities within
the 18 organizations in the Canadian Heritage Portfolio are posted
on the Governor-in-Council Appointments website. Interested parties
can apply online.
National museums are subject to the Museums Act of
1990.
