Researchers Andreas Westermark of Sweden's Riksbank and Roger Svensson of the Research Institute for Industrial Economics have written a paper looking at the technique used in the middle ages known in Latin as "Renovatio Monetae" or "recoinage." "Could a Middle Ages Trick Help the ECB Increase Inflation and Raise Funds?," at 0818 GMT, misstated that Mr. Svensson worked for Riksbank in the third paragraph.
