TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan 31, 2014) - The Fraser Institute will release its Report Card on Ontario's Elementary Schools 2014, the go-to source for measuring school improvement, Sunday, Feb. 2 at 6:30 a.m. (Eastern).

The Report Card ranks 3,030 public and Catholic schools (and a small number of private schools) based on results from annual provincewide reading, writing and math tests. It spotlights special needs and ESL percentages in each school, and helps parents and educators compare schools (in small towns like Wheatley and Dalkeith or big districts like Toronto) by showing which schools have improved and which schools have fallen behind.

This information, which is difficult to find anywhere else, also demonstrates how perceived barriers to learning (low parental income, for example) are often overcome.

A news release with additional information will be issued via Marketwired on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 6:30 a.m. (Eastern).

The Toronto Sun, Ottawa Sun and Osprey/Sun Media newspapers across Ontario will publish Report Card results. The complete results for all 3,030 schools will be available at www.compareschoolrankings.org.

Peter Cowley, co-author of the Report Card, will be in Toronto and available to media on Sunday, Feb. 2 and Monday, Feb. 3.
